Brethren, welcome to this the new website of the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees in the District of Cumberland and Westmorland, I have had the honour and pleasure to be Installed as District Grand Prefect for Cumberland and Westmorland taking over from R.W.Bro. Edward Crosby.

The reason you are reading this page suggests that you are looking to broaden the scope of your masonic knowledge, that being the case you are certainly reading about the right order.

​

The Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees is one of the most enjoyable, interesting and friendly Orders in Free Masonry. There are five degrees to be taken within the Order each containing important moral messages. These may be briefly summarised as:

• St Lawrence the Martyr teaches us Fortitude and Hospitality

• Knights of Constantinople teaches us Humility

• Grand Tilers of Solomon teaches us Duty and Responsibility

• Red Cross of Babylon teaches us Fidelity, Integrity, and Truth

• Grand High Priest teaches us Service and Dedication

 

The degree of St. Lawrence the Martyr must be taken in the Council that you join, (your mother Council,) the other four degrees can be taken in any order at any Council. We currently have six Councils within our District:

• W.M. Sewell Council No.11 meeting at Keswick

• John Barr Council No.49 meeting at Cleator Moor

• Birley Council No.79 meeting at Windermere

• Rose and Thistle Council No.156 meeting at Dalston

• V.H.P. Roberts Council No.258 meeting at Aspatria

• The Hale Council of Installed Masters No.288 meeting at Dalston.

The above Councils are spread out across the county which makes it easier for new members to join a Council that suits their needs.
